An exciting Art on the Waterfront

by Brandon Mayer
The annual Art on the Waterfront event in Chesterville took place on June 7, and was as exciting as ever. This year, the organizers decided on a one-day event, packed with the usual action including a kids colouring contest and kids talent show, an assortment of art including jewelry and crafts, a kids zone, live music, and food and drinks. The annual free admission event is a staple in North Dundas, celebrating local culture and pride in the historic and scenic town of Chesterville. While all of the main events took place on June 7, a bonus bit of enjoyment was also scheduled for June 8. This “Main Stage Community Day” featured a church service at The Gathering House in the morning, followed by a pie eating contest, an open mic event, and ending with live music. Many audience members were amused by the live music, particularly a song that celebrated small town life with humour, including references to Chesterville in the lyrics. This year’s festivities certainly left some big shoes to fill for next year!
